2020 was supposed to be the year for music! With big artists like Andy Shauf, The Garden, and Tame Impala releasing new music, listeners were opening up their schedules to buy tickets for the upcoming spring/summer season.
With the World Health Organization’s calls for sweeping social distancing measures to lower the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic, dozens of touring artists had to either postpone or cancel entirely.
That being said, let’s not forget that not all hope is lost and music always wins. Here are 8 Anticipated Toronto concerts with new postponed dates or not postponed yet.
The Garden @ Velvet Underground

California twin duo The Garden has been actively creating music since 2011. Their punky underground, Drum n’ Bass style received attention all over the world especially their collaboration with Canadian musician, Mac Demarco in “Thy Mission”. The recent success of their fourth studio album, Kiss My Super Bowl Ring (2020), resulted in the Toronto concert to be sold-out at the Velvet Underground.
According to the Velvet Underground’s website, their performance is postponed with a new date To Be Announced.
Men I Trust @ Phoenix Concert Theatre

New date: June 13
Toronto-based indie pop band, Men I Trust has been actively touring since 2019 after the huge success of their 2015 album, Headroom, and the recent release of their 2019 follow up, Oncle Jazz. The band originally scheduled their performance on March 22, but their management has postponed the concert to June 13.
Dan Mangan @ Danforth Music Hall

>Two-time JUNO award-winning folk artist Dan Mangan announced his tour in support of his 5th studio album More or Less. The artist recently postponed his concert from March 13th to June 26 due to concerns about COVID-19.
Rage Against the Machine @ Scotiabank Arena
Scheduled: July 23-25
The political rap-rock group announced last year that lead singer, Zack de la Rocha, and the rest of the band will reunite for a reunion tour. Including Toronto as a spot at the Scotiabank Theatre. The last time the band performed in Toronto was in 1999. On March 12th, the band postponed the first part of their tour from March 26-May 20 but thankfully, the Toronto date has not been changed as of yet.
Joel Plaskett @ Queen Elizabeth Theatre

One of Canada’s most celebrated musicians and songwriters, Joel Plaskett, announced his Canadian tour last year, scheduling a concert date in Toronto on May 9. However, concerns with the pandemic have not only postponed his concert to October but also delayed his upcoming album 44 to April 17th.
Andy Shauf @ Danforth Music Hall

New date: November 23 & 24
Canadian folk musician Andy Shauf is known for his unique storytelling abilities. His work with Foxwarren and great success from his 2016 album The Party, launched appearances on The Late Late Show With James Corden and earned him a spot on the Polaris Prize shortlist. In support of his recent album The Neon Skyline released in February, Shauf had plans to perform a 2-day concert in April. However, he recently postponed his concert to November 23 and 24 of this year.
King Krule @ Queen Elizabeth Theatre – Toronto

New date: December 4
Archy Marshall, the singer-songwriter behind King Krule is one of the several obscure artists currently. The anticipated album Man Alive! (2020) following his recent birth of his daughter had fans excited for his World tour in 2020. He originally scheduled the concert date in Toronto on April 17th, but later announced a postponement of the performance to December 4. The postponed concert is accepting tickets bought before the cancellation.
