This weekend a rare event will take place in Toronto’s independent wrestling community. It’s something, even I, with my multiple live attendances, and ritualistic viewing of non-mainstream wrestling have never seen before: a championship belt debut.

James Kee is the managing director for Toronto based SMASH wrestling, and he drove all the way from Brampton to talk with The Scope about the championship belt debut on May 4. A man of many analogies, James explains what this belt means for SMASH, their wrestlers and their fans – both new and old.

Listen below as we talk everything from audience retention, and character development, to this one time Jimmy sold some dude a broken ladder.
