Snow in Midsummer is based on a classical 13th century Chinese drama, also known as The Injustice to Dou Yi That Moved Heaven and Earth, by Guan Hanqing. It tells the story of a wealthy widow who adopts a poor man’s daughter, Dou Yi, and raises her as her own. But when Dou Yi is accused of a terrible crime, tragedy ensues…
This is a dramatic live reading of Snow in Midsummer, featuring a cast and crew made up almost entirely of Asian-Canadian talent. It was co-directed by Ethan Joshua and Olivia Jon, produced by Jane Luo, Micheal Peng, Ethan Joshua and Olivia Jon, and stage managed by Romaine Myers.
