“Late Night Talking” is your go-to relatable track about jumping into a relationship and the excitement that comes with it. It delves into the bond that forms between two people created by late night conversations and the indelible impression that it leaves on a person. It also contains a funky rhythm and smooth vocals to tide the listeners into a beautiful trance, making the song quite an enjoyable experience.

Harry Styles is a British singer, songwriter and actor from Redditch, United Kingdom. He began his career in 2010 when he auditioned for Season 7 of The X Factor UK. This propelled his career when he joined forces with other male singers to form the boy band One Direction. This band contained other separate auditioners from the same season, including Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. One Direction blew up after their hit debut single “What Makes You Beautiful,” released in September 2011, which became an international sensation. Harry stayed with the band until it split in 2016. In the same year, he began making his own music, signing a contract with Columbia Records, from which he launched Erskine Records, an independent record label. Harry’s House is Harry’s third solo album and contains the hit single “As It Was,” followed by the second most popular song of the album, “Late Night Talking.” Recently, he won the iHeartRadio Music Award for Best Tour for his Love On Tour in 2022. He is also starring in two films, My Policeman (slated for November 4th, 2022 on Prime Video globally) and the highly anticipated film Don’t Worry Darling (coming out on September 23rd, 2022, in theatres in Canada.)

“Late Night Talking” discusses his affectionate conversations with a past partner, how he longs for her, and that she is always on his mind. The song starts with a strong high pitched rhythmic synth followed by some drumming. The vocal kicks in after 9 seconds. This  is a perfect length for an introductory beat, as it sets the vibe of the track without losing the listener’s attention. The lyrics are simple and comprehensive and Harry’s smooth vocal tone lures the listener and allows them to understand every syllable. The song also has subtle yet much-needed pauses at specific points in the song, like the first two lines of the chorus. This adds a layer of syncopation which makes the song even catchier. The song’s length also fits in well with the standard of Pop music.

Harry has so far only created three albums during his solo music career: Harry Styles (2017), Fine Line (2019) and Harry’s House (2022).  His music continues to improve as he delves deeper into the alternative pop genre, providing a more upbeat flair to his songs. “Late Night Talking” is my all-time favourite song of his at the moment, and I would recommend giving it a listen.
