Geography is the debut album from Tom Misch, a London-based artist. Misch has released three EPs and a shortened length album titled Beat Tape 2, a follow-up of Beat Tape 1, which is on SoundCloud. The album fuses funk, hip-hop, jazz, and soul. Geography comprises of 13 tracks with collaborations from Loyle Carner, De La Soul, GoldLink, and Poppy Ajudha.

One of the standout tracks of Geography is “Water Baby” featuring Loyle Carner. What makes “Water Baby” unique is how the track opens up from the ambient electronic-jazz fusion sound to the sax-solo loop that relaxes your mind. The vocals are the driving factor of the track blending in hip-hop, jazz, and blues.

“It Runs Through Me” featuring De La Soul screams the unofficial summer track of 2018. The collaboration between Tom Misch and De La Soul works well with Misch’s vocals complimenting the jazz and funk sounds. It’s soothing, laid-back and makes you want to dance in the night.

Other notable tracks from Geography include “Disco Yes” featuring Poppy Ajudha. This song brings the disco/funk/soul hybrid that has a catchy tune and makes you want to move. “Movie” is a love ballad describing one’s relationship as if it were a genre.

Tom Misch’s Geography shows range in the jazz, blues, hip-hop, funk, and soul fusion through instrumentation and collaboration that is soothing, relaxing, and a record that should be recommended on your playlist. Geography is available to stream, purchase, or download now.
