Welcome to CJRU 1280AM, your campus radio station! We’re the place for local music, news, unique podcasts and the latest updates about what’s new on campus and in the community.
You can volunteer with us, submit music to our library, and keep up to date with us by signing up for our newsletter and following our social media.
VOLUNTEER WITH US
CJRU volunteers have a variety of opportunities to create content for the station, our social media and our website! Build relationships with industry professionals, create extensive portfolios of work and attend exclusive events as members of the press.
Interested in radio broadcasting? As a CJRU volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to receive training and gain experience in covering news for radio, hosting and producing shows, reviewing music, and editing audio.
Interested in social media or writing? Create content for new music, movies, and events through our social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter), or write music reviews and articles for our website!
To volunteer at CJRU, reach out to our volunteer coordinator by emailing volunteer@cjru.ca. Volunteers will be fully trained in their chosen department and no prior experience is needed!

SONG REQUESTS
Is there a song that you’ve been listening to on repeat this year? Do you have a deep cut that you think everyone else should check out? Did your friend release a rad new EP this summer? We’d love to check it out, and possibly play it on CJRU! We are dedicating time exclusively to Orientation Week song requests which will air at the following times on CJRU 1280 AM and cjru.ca:
Wednesday, September 14th at 8~9pm
Saturday, September 17th at 4~5pm

24 HOUR RADIO CHALLENGE
This October, CJRU is running our second-ever 24 Hour Radio Challenge!
What’s a 24 hour radio challenge, you ask? Well, it’s a fun & funky creative competition wherein, over the course of 24 hours, participants attempt to make a compelling 3 – 6 minute piece of radio, based on a secret theme that we’ll be announcing on the day of the challenge. It can be nonfiction or fiction, serious or funny, contain one voice or many – it’s all up to you!
The details you need to know: this year’s challenge will be taking place from Saturday, October 1st, 10am EST, to Sunday, October 2nd, 10am EST. You can sign up solo or as part of a team, and registration is open to anyone anywhere in the world! If you’re based in Toronto, CJRU will be making recording equipment available for participants to borrow.
Submissions will be evaluated by a team of judges, and we’ll have some fabulous prizes for the winning teams (fabulous prize specifics TBA). We’ll air some of our favourite pieces on CJRU, too.
